About the Virginia Forestry Association

Founded in 1943, the Virginia Forestry Association (VFA) is a non-profit, privately supported organization with the purpose of encouraging wise use of forest resources in the Commonwealth for present and future generations.

VFA membership consists of forest landowners, foresters, forest product businesses, loggers, forestry consultants, and a variety of individuals and groups who are concerned about the future well-being of Virginia's forest resources.

Our organization is dedicated to sustaining, developing, protecting, and promoting the forests and related resources of Virginia. VFA seeks to maintain a political and economic climate favorable for forest ownership and forest industry in the state and to enhance the public's perception of forestry through effective outreach and communications.

For twenty-seven years, the United States Senate Productivity and Quality Award (Virginia SPQA), has helped organizations improve performance and keep pace with the speed of change. Organizations participating in the Virginia SPQA program report results of: better aligned business infrastructure, fostering a team environment, increased customer and constituent satisfaction, and improved organizational results.

“The rigorous application and examination process spread over several years forced us to reengineer the way we deal with our customers, data and our competition.  An organization that knows how to drill deeply into their data in order to satisfy customers to a degree not achieved by their competitors is a successful organization.” Norfolk Public Schools
